As an autistic person (me, Homura) I think there are legit advantages to autism. Having a special interest is a free pass to having a passion in life. For post10, it’s unclogging culverts and other storm drains.
I think many autistic people wish their special interests were more “practical” or made them money. Which, yeah, that would be nice. But again, a special interest is a passion that you understand with your whole body. You can feel totally absorbed in it and be in a flow state. In a way, it gives you charisma.
I was surprised when post10 got a gf some months ago, but thinking about it more, it doesn’t surprise me. There are people out there who appreciate our gifts and interests and want to go adventuring with us. Or maybe you’ll stay in and watch videotapes or look at your Smoke Alarm Acquisitions for the year. And no doubt, you can be that person for someone else!

Walking through the countryside with some late-80s(?) ambient synth music.

If I could just make it stop
I could tell the whole world
To get out of the way
If I could just make it stop
If I could just make it stop
Breaking my heart
Get out of the way
If I could just make it stop
You see, I'm close to the edge
I'm at the end of my rope
The rope is starting to thread
I'm trying to keep my hold
You say I'm something I'm not
But I'm not what I seem
Get my back off the wall
If I could just make it stop

The ultimate vulnerability: Putting on a video of yourself that you think is cringy and forcing yourself to watch it all the way through, no looking away. Oh, and then letting the entire internet see it too.
“Genuine pain. This causes me genuine pain, but here it is.”
“AAAUUUUGHHH! Shut the f*** up, Jesus...”

King Cobra (Josh) died last month. He was always stubbornly himself and a good dude at the end of the day. I just wish he had taken care of his health, because there were good times yet to come.
